To create a property which maximises the splendid river views, whilst utilising the sites natual gradient. The use of environmentally sympathetic architecture to ultimately create a modern house on a complex site within a conservation area.
The client had originally purchased a building plot on the bank of the River Thames which had planning permission for a single dwelling. Our initial role was to obtain building regulation approval and prepare working drawings for the construction of the building. It soon became apparent that there were significant issues with the planning design resulting in escalating costs. Working closely with the client and local authority building control the building was redesigned to meet the needs of the client, exceeding the minimum requirements of the building regulations and retain control of the building costs. The result was the production of this four bedroom energy efficient modern dwelling. The project was complex with issues involving clearance of a contaminated site, building in a conservation area, working with the environment agency and exceeding the requirements of the building regulations to produce an energy efficient property.
